OUTREACH

Our purpose for missions is based on the belief that as Christians, we are to present the person of the Lord Jesus Christ in word and deed to a lost world: by being His witnesses according to the command in Acts1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The Mount Carmel Church of Christ is a community committed to living a lifestyle of missions - locally, nationally and internationally.

We support missionaries both at home and abroad!

Ongoing/Long Term Mission Works:

  • AIM - The Adventures In Missions program is a two-year program for college-age people seeking to build a foundation for a lifetime of ministry. AIM provides an intensive study of God's word and then an opportunity to serve on a foriegn or domestic mission field and learn from experienced missionaries. We financially support one AIM student at this time. Check out photos of our annual AIM appreciation night!

  • India - We financially and prayerfully support several missionaries across India.

  • St. Lucia - Over twenty years ago, we helped plant a church in St. Lucia. We continue to financially and prayerfully support the congregation there, making trips there each year to encourage their growth. We have had several members travel there to offer Vacation Bible Schools and gospel meetings to help bring new members to the church.

  • Togo, Africa - We prayerfully support the work of Matt & Andrea Miller, a missionary family in Africa who work as part of the Kabiye Mission Team.

  • Ukraine - We financially and prayerfully support a congregation in the Ukraine, and have had several members travel there to encourage the church and help bring new members to the church.

Short Term Mission Works:

  • Camp Wabashi - Each summer, Jim Dickey directs one week at a Christian summer camp called Camp Wabashi, near Terre Haute, Indiana. Several of our members work as counselors during that week, sharing the lives of children while showing them Christ's love in action. And many of our children attend as campers too. Check out our Camp Wabashi photo page!

  • El Salvador - Barbara Burns is a nurse who helps with a medical mission work in El Salvador each year, offering free medical exams, medical supplies, and Bible studies to families there. There is a blog for this work, check it out at:  http://360.yahoo.com/lapalmamission@sbcglobal.net

  • Mississippi - Our young adults are planning a mission trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, this summer to encourage the church there by providing a Vacation Bible School and helping with building efforts.

  • South Texas - Several of our members join with other Christians each Spring to help build homes for needy families in South Texas.
